Patents Act, 1970 is the Indian Act on the concept of Patents.

History

The Patents, Designs and Trade Marks Act was enacted in 1883. Later, the Patents Act 1920 is enacted and further enacted into Patents Act, 1949, Patents Act, 1970.

  • The Act has 163 sections housed in 23 chapters.

  • Section 3 deals with a list of inventions that are not patentable.
  • Section 4 says that inventions related to atomic energy are not patentable.
