Vigilantibus non dormantibus jura subvenient is a legal maxim related to Law of Limitation.

Meaning

The Law helps those who are vigilant and not those who sleep over their rights

Commentary

The exhaustive Law of Limitation does not create a right. It just bars the remedy and prohibits revival of barred rights. The Section 23 of Indian Contract Act, 1872 prohibits parties from contesting override statutory provisions as to limitation.

An important thing to remember here is that Justice, Equity and good conscience do not override the Law of Limitation.
