USA and International Law

USA respects International Law. However, according to the Constitution of America, when its Constitution and a treaty conflicts, the constitution prevails over the treaty.

Treaties are of two types:

  • Self-executing treaties
  • Non self-executing treaties

USA is a leading member in many International Organizations including the United Nations Organizations and by virtue of it, USA honors the International Law.
