Law of Jordan
The Judiciary is an independent branch of the other two branches of the Government.
There are three types of Courts in Jordan.
- Civil or Regular Courts deals with Civil and Criminal matters.
- Religious Courts
- Special Courts
First Instance or Conciliation Courts are the first level courts. Appelette or Appeals Courts are the courts of appeal. The Court of Cassation is the highest court of justice in the country.
There are two types of religious courts. The Sharia courts enforce the provisions of Islamic law and civil status, and tribunals of other religious communities officially recognized in Jordan.
