Juvenile delinquency

Juvenile delinquency refers to antisocial or illegal behavior by children or adolescents.

  • Belgian social statistician Adolphe Quetelet said that adolescents, particularly young men are prone to crime, disorder and delinquency because of their childish impulsive or adolescent conflict. He said that the propensity of crime will be at maximum at the age when strength and passion have reached their heights.
  • Justice V R Krishna said a child is born innocent, nourished with care but because of noxious surroundings, neglect of basic need, bad company and abuses will make him delinquent.
