A Citation is an easy method of identification and location of a publication by a legal authority (such as a statute, court decision or some other source of law).
- United States Statutes at Large is the collection of publication of laws that are passed by the Congress.
- The United States Code (USC) is the collection or arrangement of all existing federal laws by broad subject. Thus, a reference to "5 U.S.C. Section 1" means that the statute can be found in Section 1 of Title 5. The phrase "5 U.S.C. Section 1" is the citation in this case. i.e it is a pointer to the specific section in the statute
